Itinerary

DELHI

Landing in Delhi, we’ll meet you at the airport and take you to our hotel in the heart of the city. An intoxicating mix of colour and wonderful chaos, brace for sensory overload as you feel the buzz of India’s capital. This evening, meet up with your new crew of mates and get ready to make some memories!

DELHI

Today we dive deep into the sights, sounds and smells of Delhi. Wandering the streets of Chawri Bazaar, our local guide will show us how little traditional life has changed. We’ll get a taste into India’s renowned cuisine as we sample local delicacies - chaat or lassi, anyone? This afternoon we visit the magnificent, red-marbled Jama Masjid, the largest mosque in India, and learn how religion has shaped this country of over 1 billion people.

JODHPUR

Leaving the hectic streets of Delhi, this morning we’ll catch some z’s on a short flight to Jodhpur, a 700-year-old city in the desert famously known as the ‘blue city’. We’ll get lost in the maze of blue architecture – but don’t worry, we have a guide. Stumbling through medieval streets and bustling bazaars, we’ll finish off our day by tucking into a local dinner together. Let’s see who can handle their spice!

JODHPUR

Dominating the Jodhpur skyline, the impressive Mehrangarh Fort stands on a rocky hilltop overlooking the city and the desert plains below. Today we visit this spectacular sight to find out about the history of the area and check out some pretty impressive views. This afternoon we’re out to discover the land the warm and hospitable Bishnoi people call home, experiencing their unique way of life in the traditional villages.

OSIAN

It’s time to leave city life behind as we venture away from civilization into the Thar Desert. Thinking that maybe we’ve been transported to Mars, we’ll jump on jeeps for a sunset safari amongst rolling sand dunes. This evening we’re back to camp to experience true Rajasthani hospitality. Swapping tales over dinner, tonight we’ll gaze at the stars and sleep in traditional Swiss tents.

PUSHKAR

Pushkar, one of India’s holiest cities, is next on the agenda. Exploring this city built around a holy lake, we’ll begin to understand why it is a sacred place for Hindu pilgrims to visit at least once in their lifetime. Boasting beautiful markets and (more) delicious food, this city is like nowhere else in Rajasthan. Where better than the birthplace of yoga to get in touch with your inner yogi, so this evening we’ll stretch into physical and mental peace with an included yoga class. Namaste.

JAIPUR

This morning, we are up bright n’ early for a (not-too-intense) hike up to Savitri temple. Perched on a rocky outcrop overlooking Pushkar, we’ll catch a stunning sunrise over the landscape. After a well-earned breakfast back at our hotel, it’s time to head to Jaipur, aka ‘Pink City’, where extravagant rose-tinted buildings await. After check-in we’ll swing by Hawa Mahal, try (and fail) to get a perfectly symmetrical photo, then visit Jantar Mantar, Jaipur’s Observatory. At almost 200 years old, it still houses incredibly sophisticated instruments, another marvel of Indian achievement.

JAIPUR

The romantic Rajasthani Amber Fort awaits us today, and to give our legs a rest we’ll travel up the hill by jeep. The rugged, time-ravaged walls of this imposing structure hide a paradise inside, with gorgeously decorated rooms and intricate artwork. Once we’re done oo-ing and ah-ing, this evening we visit a local family for dinner. But this time, we’re going to help cook! Satisfying our inner foodies, we’ll be curry pros in no time.

RANTHAMBORE

Today let’s get a little wild. Leaving the madness of rickshaws and scooters behind, we’re going for a complete change of pace, heading for the outskirts of one of India’s largest and most renowned national parks. After checking in to our accommodation, there’s time to chill. Later we’re going full Indiana Jones mode – voyaging into the untouched jungle to explore Ranthambore Fort.

RANTHAMBORE

Tiger time! This morning is an early start as we head out on a sunrise safari to try and spot these incredible big cats in the wild. Ranthambore National Park is brimming with wildlife - monkeys, crocodiles, wild boars, deer, peacocks, and even leopards, so we’re sure to have an adventure. After our safari, check out the local area or have some well-earned R&R by the pool.

AGRA

Departing the jungle, en-route to our next location we will stop at the Abhaneri Stepwell, an otherworldly structure built over 1000 years ago to conserve water and provide respite from the intense heat. Photos snapped, we’ll make tracks to magical Agra and tease you with what is to come by visiting the tomb of I’timãd-ud-Daulah – otherwise known as the Baby Taj. We’re getting excited now…

DELHI

Wake up early and witness the dawn illuminate the famous Taj Mahal with a mesmerizing golden glow. Yup, we’ve saved the best til’ last. One of the 7 New Wonders of the World, our local guide will share the Taj’s history and secrets and show us some iconic spots to snap pics. With awoken imaginations and full camera rolls, we head back to the hotel for breakfast and drive back to where it all started – Delhi. Tonight we celebrate our adventure together with one last Indian feast, some drinks, and maybe even some Bollywood dancing.

DELHI

Our 13 day tour must come to an end, but the majesty of India will stay in our memories for eternity. Those flying home or on to Sri Lanka as part of our combo tour will make their way to the airport, or keep living the dream and extend your stay in India with our help and the new friends you’ve made.

Frequently Asked Questions

India is a huge country with diverse regions, and it’s possible to travel India any time of year. However, the best time to visit Northern India is from September to May. It starts getting hotter from April, and parts of the country experience the summer monsoon from June to the start of September. We operate India Experience from September to May to avoid the hottest and wettest times of the year.

This trip features a more premium mix of hotel accommodation, whilst also including an overnight Swiss tent stay in the desert.

There are a few hikes on this trip to experience some absolutely breath-taking views, which does require an average level of fitness to reach the top. None of the included hikes are too strenuous and most people should be able to complete them without any issues.

To get around India we use a private bus, as well as an included internal flight. Due to the infrastructure of India most roads are smaller, two-lane roads and can lead to some slightly longer travel days. However, we break up the travel days by visiting some fascinating places along the way.

When should I arrive for my tour?

It’s best to arrive on the actual start date. This is when most people arrive. There are no activities on the first day but the group gets together in the evening for a welcome dinner at around 7pm. Sometimes people like to arrive a day or two before the trip starts so they can do their own exploring or just have a bit of time to chill before all the fun begins. Our INTRO Travel App has all the important information about arriving into the country, your airport transfer and where to meet when you arrive. Please download it here for iPhone or Google

Where can I update my arrival information for my tour?

Once you have booked your flights please log into the Manage My Booking area of our website and let us know your flight arrival details. If you are arriving early we can still arrange your airport transfer for you (excluding Japan). You can book and pay for any extra nights accommodation in the Manage My Booking area of our website. The cost and availability of extra nights will vary depending on which tour you have booked.

Which airport do I need to fly into?

You can find information on which airport to fly into and out of in the 'Arrival Info’ and ‘After Your Trip’ sections of our INTRO Travel App, which you can download here for iPhone or Google

Can I book pre-tour accommodation with you?

If you are arriving before the start date you can book extra nights at the tour accommodation. To do this, simply log into the Manage My Booking area of our website, add the extra nights and pay for them.

Can I book post-tour accommodation with you?

Your group leader will book post-tour accommodation for you when you are on tour. Just need to let them know when you arrive.

How do I organise my airport transfer?

All of our tours in India include an airport transfer for when you arrive. Once you have booked your flights simply log into the Manage My Booking Area of our website and let us know your flight arrival details. If you are arriving early and staying at the tour accommodation we will still arrange your airport transfer. Please let us know if you do not require an airport transfer.

A return transfer (after the tour) is not included, however your group leader can help arrange this for you, along with any other onward travel you need.

Our INTRO Travel App has all the important information about your airport transfer and where to meet when you arrive. Please download it here for iPhone or Google

Are flights included in the price?

Flights to and from India are not included in the price of the tour and will need to be booked separately. However if your tour has an internal flight as part of the itinerary, then this is included!

You can get a quote on a flight to your destination here.

Do I need a visa and can you arrange it for me?

Visa requirements vary depending on the country you are travelling to and your nationality. It’s your responsibility to check the visa and entry requirements for the country/s you will be travelling to. There is some information about visas in our INTRO Travel App, which you can download here for iPhone or Google

IMPORTANT: We cannot apply for your visa for you and strongly recommend that you check on the relevant embassy or consulate website for the country/s you’ll be travelling to well in advance of your departure, as requirements can change and some countries require you to apply for a visa before you travel.

How much spending money will I need?

All your activities, transport, accommodation and some meals are included in the tour, so you will mainly just need money for extra meals, drinks, shopping and onward travel.

The amount of money you’ll need depends on the tour you are doing. There’s information about how much money you’ll need for each tour in our INTRO Travel App, which you can download here for iPhone or Google

What’s the best way to access my money?

We recommend getting a Wise travel card, which will allow you to pay for things in local currency and avoid getting charged high foreign exchange fees by your bank.

Getting a Wise travel card is easy! You can get a Wise travel card here.

What should I pack for my tour?

Whether you have a backpack or a suitcase the main thing to keep in mind is not to bring too much stuff! We strongly recommend that you bring less than 20 kgs of stuff with you.
If you haven’t got a backpack yet, try and get one that zips open along the side. There will be places on the tour where you can do laundry, so you don’t need to bring 16 pairs of shorts with you.

You can view a packing checklist on our INTRO Travel App, which you can download here for iPhone or Google

How many people will be in my group?

Our groups usually have around 12-16 people on them, usually aged between 18 to early 40's. We get people from all over the world on our tours, so you’ll get to bond with a wide range of travellers who all share that same passion for adventure! As long as you have an appetite for adventure and are happy bonding with people of all backgrounds, you’ll fit in perfectly!

How can I get in touch with my group?

You can reach out to your fellow travellers in our designated Facebook groups. We have a Facebook group for all our destinations, if you go to our INTRO Travel Community Facebook page you will be able to find the relevant group for your destination.

How can I get in touch with my group leader?

You will receive a ‘welcome email’ from your group leader approx. 2 weeks before your tour begins.

What if I'm travelling solo?

If you're struggling to convince your friends to join you on an adventure, you're not alone!

Travelling solo on a group tour can be one of the most exciting ways to experience a new destination, and you won't have to wait around for your mates to be ready. You leave yourself open to meeting amazing people, making new friends, and can keep yourself and your onward travel plans flexible.

The majority of our group members are solo travellers, so joining one of our group tours is a great way to meet people and make friends. Before your trip starts we'll put you in touch with the rest of your group so you can start chatting and get to know each other. And after the trip a lot of people continue travelling with the new friends they've made!

What if I'm travelling with a friend/s or partner?

Once you’ve made a booking just let us know who you’re travelling with and we can make a note that you are travelling together, and can put you in the same room.

India has three typical plug types – C, D and M. Plug type C has two round pins, plug type D has three round pins in a triangular pattern, and plug type M also has three round pins.

A big part of the INTRO Travel difference is our after-trip support. Your group leader will spend enough time as needed to ensure you are totally comfortable and confident with where you’re going next. And can help organise and book whatever you need, including any transport, accommodation or trips you may want. We'll also provide 24/7 support and advice after your trip, and will always be there to help when you need it.
