HANOI
Landing in Hanoi, we’ll meet you at the airport and take you to your boutique hotel in the heart of the old quarter. This afternoon meet up with your new travel crew and get excited for the adventures to come!
HANOI
We’ll jump straight into the hustle of Hanoi today with a walking and rickshaw tour of the city. Tasty street food will keep us going as we soak in the intoxicating energy of the capital, full of rustic colonial buildings and themed trading streets. This evening we’ll head out for dinner and a drinks to see what Hanoi has to offer after dark.
SAPA VILLAGE
This morning we’ll take a VIP limousine bus to the rolling hills of Sapa. We’ll learn from our local guide how different ethnic groups live peacefully together while retaining their customs, then begin our trek deep into the Muong Hoa Valley. Passing rice paddies, mountain views and water buffalo, we might get a little muddy, but it’s all part of the fun! Once at our homestay we’ll have a well-deserved rest, sharing stories over dinner and a little rice wine.
SAPA
Today is all about enjoying the postcard perfect landscapes and breathing fresh mountain air as we trek through terraced hills, take in dramatic panoramas, and discover local villages. This afternoon a quick drive takes us back to Sapa town, where we will check into our beautiful mountain-side hotel and kick up our feet for a well-earned rest in peaceful surroundings.
SAPA
This morning enjoy the hotel and explore Sapa at your own pace, with the option of taking the cable car up Fan Si Pan peak. With a summit over 3100m, this viewpoint known as the roof of Indochina boasts extravagant views of the mountainous landscape. This afternoon we’ll jump back in the VIP limousine bus back to Hanoi.
HA LONG BAY
From Hanoi we’ll travel to Ha Long Bay to board the luxurious boat that’ll be our home for the night. Famous for emerald waters, limestone islands, magical caves, and thick rainforests, we’ll see this world heritage site up close as we kayak, swim, and laze on the sundeck. In the evening enjoy a sunset from the deck and tuck into a fresh dinner before some drinks. It doesn’t get much better than this!
NINH BINH
Today the rice paddies and vast mountains of Ninh Binh await. We'll make the most of our serene surroundings as we cosy up in traditional bungalows by the river at a local homestay. We’ll hop on two wheels to weave through rice paddies before taking a local rowboat through a network of rivers and caves. A hike up to Dragon Mountain viewpoint will reward us with epic views! We’ll then board our surprisingly comfortable overnight train bound for Hoi An.
HOI AN
Go shopping, stroll the alleys, or even visit a local tailor to get a custom suit or dress made before our night out. The next day local fisherman will teach us the art of crab fishing. We’ll then take part in a hands-on cooking class to become masters of all things Vietnamese cuisine! The afternoon is yours to chill by the pool or get a massage. We'll then experience the iconic lantern boats in the evening.
HOI AN
Today you’ll try your hand at making an awesome Vietnamese souvenir – a lantern! Then we’ll head to the coast for a chilled beach day with some lunch at a cool beach club. We'll then enjoy our final night in Vietnam together!
HOI AN
Your unforgettable 12 day adventure comes to an end. Those flying home will make their way to the airport, or keep living the dream and extend your stay in Vietnam or South East Asia with help from your group leader.
Making a positive difference to the amazing destinations we travel is at the core of what we do. Small Change is our own socially conscious initiative aimed at making the world that little bit better place to explore!
Check out the #SmallChange you'll be part of while doing this tour. Click hereIt’s always a good time to go travelling in Vietnam. Most months of the year you will experience both sunshine and possibly some rain. It’s usually quite hot and humid most of the time, but it can occasionally get cold, especially in the north of Vietnam between November and February, so it’s always best to bring a couple of warm layers with your summer clothing.
This tour includes upgraded 4 star standard hotels for additional comfort, as well as local homestays and a comfortable overnight train. All are a good standard, clean and comfortable, however the homestay is quite rural so expect some bumpy roads, western but basic amenities and more bugs and wildlife in the area.
Vietnam is a large country, and we experience a lot of it! So expect some longer travel days, with some loud motorbike traffic in the main centres. This tour also includes a good amount of walking, a hill tribe trek and cycling day tour, so an average level of fitness is recommended.
Delicious vegetarian cuisine is plentiful in Vietnam, however strict gluten free and vegan can be harder as egg and fish sauce are common ingredients. But we will do our best to provide suitable options. A wide variety of Western meals is not common, however the authentic local food is outstanding!
Vietnam Experience is the upgraded version of Vietnam Intro. Similar itinerary but with some exclusive activities, more meals and upgraded accommodation.
