How to Spend a Rainy Day in Sydney
Even if rooftop bars and chilling on the beach are off the table for the day, a rainy day doesn't have to be boring! There are plenty of awesome things to see and enjoy around town, so we've gathered our favs to show you how to make the most out of a grey day in Sydney.
Try a new workout class
Tired of your gym routine? Now's the perfect time to explore that kind of exercise you’ve always wanted to try! For a scenic, picturesque indoor cycling route, try Scenic Cycle in the CBD where you can bike through the French countryside, Tahiti, and many other worldwide destinations - all from the comfort of the studio. Or if you really want to warm up on a gloomy day, try out hot yoga at One Hot Yoga, a studio as beautiful as it is warm and cozy!
Head to the cinema
Escape the drizzle by cosying up with the silver screen and catching a film at the local cinema. If you're rained out on a Tuesday, many cinemas around the city offer discounted ticket deals!
Go mini-golfing
Grab a few mates and head into an indoor miniature golfing course (and bar) like Holey Moley for a hilarious time, indoors!
Try an art class
Been thinking of picking up ceramics or painting but never had the time? There's no better time than a grey day! Book a class and you can start creating your masterpiece. The only thing that can make painting more fun is a glass of wine - if you love boozy brunch and boozy mini golf, then you’ll definitely love a boozy painting class! Places like Brush & Sip in Newtown offer a great place to paint, socialise, and sip wine for a few hours - the perfect way to hideout from the rain with your mates!
Give karaoke a crack
Whether boozy or not, karaoke never fails to provide a great night for everyone. Save the pub crawls for a warmer, drier evening and camp out in your local karaoke bar for the night!
Go head to head in pub trivia
Check out Google for trivia nights happening at your local pubs! Grab a group of mates test your random knowledge - and potentially win a bit of cash or a bar tab to splurge on.
Visit the MCA
If you’re like me and have wanted to check out the Museum of Contemporary Art for a while but haven’t gotten around to it, then now's a perfect time. Located right on Sydney Harbour, the MCA is Australia's home for contemporary art in a grand art deco building by the water. Plus, entry to most of it is free! The MCA hosts regular exhibitions from domestic and international artists spanning all mediums and includes significant representation of works from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander artists. Don't forget to check out the rooftop cafe for unrivaled views of Circular Quay!
Make plans for the sunnier future
Got time off on the horizon but no plans? Spend the dreary daydreaming of vacationing in a sunny location like Bali or Vietnam. You can start getting some inspo and planning your next adventure here!
